Henrico offers extraordinary access to renewable energy, and we’re relentlessly investing in our clean energy channels. Because of our efforts, business leaders can continue to be environmental stewards in their respective industries. To learn more details about our environmental program, visit the County's Go Green site here.
Henrico’s environmental focus is further reflected by our home state. In July 2020, Clean Energy Virginia was launched. The initiative was designed with the goal of powering 100% of the Commonwealth’s electricity from carbon-free sources by 2045.
We fully understand that small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy and that inclusive growth is vital to the vibrancy of the communities throughout our region. It’s why we proactively engage with new and existing companies doing business in Henrico to discuss supply chain, vendor, and contractor needs. We work to ensure the ongoing success of our small, women-owned, and minority-owned (SWaM) businesses.
The Henrico County Purchasing Division’s efforts toward the inclusion of SWaM businesses lead the Richmond region. Initiatives include actively promoting the procurement or lease of goods, services, insurance and construction from small businesses, women, minority, and service disabled veteran businesses and employment service organizations in an equally competitive manner; soliciting small businesses, women, minority, and service disabled veteran businesses and employment service organizations whenever they are potential sources; and participating in all local, regional, and national conferences and events involving small businesses, women, minority, and service disabled veteran businesses and employment service organizations.
Through these actions, everyone can be equipped with the resources and network needed to drive shared success. Because we firmly believe that opportunities should be shared equally with everyone.
